Storyline: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is set during the American Civil War. It follows three very different men who are all searching for the same thing: a hidden box of gold coins.

First, there is Blondie, "the Good." He is a quiet and clever bounty hunter. Then, there is Angel Eyes, "the Bad." He is a ruthless and cruel killer who will stop at nothing. Finally, there is Tuco, "the Ugly." He is a loud and greedy Mexican bandit.

At first, Blondie and Tuco work together in a clever scam. However, they soon have a big fight and go their separate ways. Meanwhile, Angel Eyes is also hunting for the gold. He learns that a dying soldier named Bill Carson knows its location.

Consequently, all three men race to find Bill Carson first. Tuco finds him, and the soldier whispers the name of the cemetery where the gold is buried. But then, Blondie finds Tuco and learns the cemetery name. However, neither man knows the specific grave.

Therefore, they must work together again to find the gold. They travel through dangerous battlefields and finally reach the huge cemetery. Angel Eyes follows them there.

In the end, the three men have a famous standoff in the cemetery. They point their guns at each other in a tense triangle. Blondie outsmarts them both. He shoots Angel Eyes and lets Tuco live, but he leaves him standing in a cemetery with no gold and no horse. Blondie rides away with all the treasure.
