Storyline: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith presents the pivotal chapter in the Skywalker saga. For three years, the Galactic Republic has fought the bloody Clone Wars. The heroic Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker, is a great champion, but terrifying visions of his secret wife, Senator Padmé Amidala, dying in childbirth torment him.

Chancellor Palpatine, secretly a Sith Lord, exploits Anakin's fear. He manipulates the young Jedi, promising him the power to save Padmé. This power comes from the dark side of the Force. These promises and his own anger seduce Anakin, who pledges himself to Palpatine, becoming the Sith apprentice Darth Vader.

As Darth Vader, he executes Order 66. Across the galaxy, Clone Troopers turn on and slaughter their Jedi Generals, nearly destroying the Jedi Order. Anakin's fall culminates in a fierce lightsaber duel against his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on the volcanic planet Mustafar. The battle leaves Anakin mutilated, and Imperial medics rebuild him into the mechanized suit of Darth Vader.

With the Jedi purged, the Republic reorganizes into the first Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine. Padmé dies after giving birth to twins, Luke and Leia, whom allies hide from their father. This act preserves a final hope for the galaxy, now shrouded by the dark side.
