Storyline: Back to the Future Part III begins exactly where Part II ended. Marty discovers that Doc Brown is trapped in the year 1885. Furthermore, he learns that Doc will be killed by an outlaw in just one week.

Therefore, Marty knows he must travel back to the Old West to save his friend. He finds the hidden DeLorean from 1955 and uses it to go to 1885.

When he arrives, he quickly finds Doc. However, Doc does not want to return to the future. He has fallen in love with a schoolteacher named Clara Clayton. Consequently, he wants to stay in the past with her.

Meanwhile, a dangerous outlaw named Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen hates Doc. He challenges Doc to a gunfight. So, Marty and Doc must find a way to escape the past without changing history.

First, they decide to push the DeLorean with a steam train to reach time-travel speed. But then, Clara almost misses the train, so Doc saves her. This means they all travel to the future together.

In the end, Marty successfully returns to 1985. The DeLorean is completely destroyed upon arrival. A few days later, however, Doc Brown appears in a new time machine shaped like a train. He is married to Clara and they have two children. Finally, they all say a happy goodbye, and Doc flies away to continue his time-travel adventures with his new family.
