Storyline: The Avengers starts when a powerful cube called the Tesseract turns on. The bad guy Loki comes through and takes it. He wants to rule the world. First, he will use the cube to open a big hole in the sky. Then, a scary alien army will come through to attack Earth.

Nick Fury, the boss of a group called S.H.I.E.L.D., sees the problem. So, he starts the "Avengers" plan. First, his agent Black Widow finds Dr. Banner, who can turn into the Hulk. Next, another agent finds Tony Stark, who is Iron Man. They also wake up Captain America, a hero from the past.

At first, the heroes do not get along. They fight and argue on the big flying ship called the Helicarrier. Loki uses this fighting to attack them. Because of this, the ship starts to crash and the Hulk gets very angry. Then, Loki runs away to New York City.

In the big final fight, they all work as one team. Iron Man bravely takes a bomb through the hole in the sky to blow up the alien mothership. Then, Black Widow closes the hole. In the end, they stop Loki and save the world. They win because they learned to fight together as the Avengers.
