Storyline: Guardians of the Galaxy begins with a boy named Peter Quill. Aliens abduct him from Earth right after his mother dies. Many years later, he is now a space adventurer who calls himself Star-Lord. First, he steals a valuable metal orb. This action puts him in big trouble. A powerful villain named Ronan wants the orb. Therefore, Ronan sends a dangerous assassin named Gamora to get it.

Meanwhile, two bounty hunters also want Quill. They are a talking raccoon named Rocket and a living tree named Groot. Soon, all four of them get into a fight and are arrested. They are sent to a huge space prison. In the prison, they meet a fifth person. His name is Drax, and he wants revenge on Ronan for killing his family.

The group soon learns the orb holds an Infinity Stone. It is an object of immense power. Ronan plans to use it to destroy a planet. As a result, the five criminals decide to team up. They escape from the prison and sell the orb to a collector. However, this plan goes wrong and Ronan gets the stone.

Now, Ronan is more powerful than ever. He heads to destroy the planet Xandar. So, the five misfits must become heroes. They fly their ship to stop him. During the big battle, Groot sacrifices himself to save his friends. In the end, they work together to defeat Ronan. They save the galaxy and become a family. They are the Guardians of the Galaxy.
